1. Foam Kneeling Pads

These are fairly common in a veteran gardeners kit, but from personal experience it’s one of the last tools a person buys when they first start. I think it is because gardeners don’t realise just how brilliant these pads are for knee and back pain. These are seriously a game changer and would make the perfect gift for any gardener who doesn’t yet have one.

This particular kneeling pad seems perfect as a gift. The patterned memory foam fabric as opposed to plain foam makes it both comfortable and stylish. People will often buy themselves plain or basic equipment so getting them something a bit nicer makes for a perfect and unique garden gift for them.

2. Sun Visor

This is another element of gardening which goes unnoticed; sun protection. During the summer months, you are fully exposed in the sun for hours which can get annoying when you’re doing vigorous work like gardening. May people just wear caps or sun hats to counter this, but these are bulky and impractical when working with plants.

Sun visors are perfect unique garden gifts which offer a brilliant and lightweight solution to this problem . These keep the sun off of your face whilst still being stylish and not bulky. These are also less likely to get caught on plants because they are secured to the head.

3. Gardening Apron

For those with larger gardens, carrying around all these tools can be annoying . Some people use a caddy or bucket, but for me a cuter and easier solution is a gardening apron. These are similar to a kitchen apron but has extra pockets to hold your tools.

This gives you a place to keep your tools whilst also keeping your clothes from getting dirty. This is a great, practical gift option and will definitely be appreciated by any gardener.

A blue gardening apron is a great gift for a gardener who wants to keep clean.

4. Decent pruning Gloves

Gloves are a gardeners best friend, so chances are your loved one will already have a pair. However, if they deal with thorny or brambly plants like roses, then a brilliant present idea for a gardener is a pair of pruning gloves.

These gloves will be thicker than normal gardening gloves and will run further up the fore arms to prevent scratching. The ones I have linked also have silicone grips on the fingers to help prevent tools slipping. These are so incredibly useful and will be well appreciated by any gardener whose had to deal with nicks and bruises from their plants before.

5. Garden Meter

A garden meter is a little device which measures the moisture and pH of the soil it is in. These little devices are super useful and a unique garden gifts they won’t have thought to get. This is especially true if your loved one is growing more difficult plants like orchids which have strict watering requirements. This is a bit of an obscure idea but for the right gardener it is so useful and thoughtful and will definitely be appreciated.

I’d recommend this device either for complete beginners or experienced gardeners with large plant beds. Beginners will find this helpful for gauging how much water their plants need when their first starting out. Experienced gardeners, on the other hand, will find this useful for keeping track of all the different plants they tend to.

6. Plant Pots

Plant pots are an amazing gift for both indoor and outdoor gardeners. We gardeners often neglect to find decent plant pots and so often end up using plain terracotta. Therefore, a nice decorated pot can be a lovely and thoughtful gift. Also, the trouble with getting gardeners presents is that they’re often more practical than cute. This gives you the opportunity to get some more creative and unique garden gifts for your loved one.

A fun design is this smiley faced pot which is super cute and works for more relaxed spaces like a bedroom or a windowsill. This is great for a younger gardener or a someone who likes to have fun with their plants.

Alternatively, A more decorative option is this wood design which would work perfect for a greenhouse or a sun room with it’s deep and earthy colour. It also comes in a range of sizes and colours, making it perfect for any type of plant.

Colourful plant pots on a balcony, pots are great unique garden gifts for those who have indoor plants.

7. Botany Books

Books are brilliant gift ideas, since gardeners often overlook them when buying for themselves. They can offer new ideas of plants to grow, new techniques to try, or different uses for harvestable plants. The type of book you’ll want to buy them depends on the type of gardener they are.

A gardener who focuses of produce, herbs, and other harvestable plants may best enjoy a botany recipe book. These are the perfect unique garden gifts because they’ll introduce new uses for their plants and bring a new life to their gardening projects. I would personally recommend ‘The Garden Apothecary: Recipes, Remedies and Rituals‘ by Christine Iverson. It’s full of different ideas to try and is part of a larger series so if the book is well-received you can get them the rest of the series.

If they are more focused on the science behind plants and growing them for the sake of beautifully grown plants, then I’d recommend a botany book. A good general guide are books from the Royal Horticultural Society, such as this Complete Gardener’s Manual which provides all the information you need to grow your garden. I would personally recommend this type book for beginners or less experienced gardeners.

8. Luxury Hand Cream Set

Gardening can be taxing on the hands, with the damp soil and rough tools often leaving them sore and dry. Because of this, a luxurious hand cream set is a brilliantly thoughtful gift for a gardeners. This set from Heathcote & Ivory contains both a moisturising hand cream and a set of gardening gloves making it the perfect present to give your loved one a treat.

A luxurious hand cream to keep your hands smooth and sweet scented.

Garden Gifts- Final Notes

Whilst this guide is meant to provide specific ideas to get your gardening loved ones, there are some general things to consider. Not all of then garden gifts will apply to every gardener. Do they enjoy planting flowers or produce? Do they have a large garden? Are they more concerned about practicality or aesthetic?

Either way, I hope you found this guide useful for finding the perfect unique garden gifts for your loved ones. For other options, feel free to check out my other article on cottagecore gift ideas. Thanks for reading!
