I may be biased, but I think a cottagecore bedroom has to be the most cosy place to be. The soft colours, the fresh smelling plants, the earthy furniture; it’s the perfect space to relax and sleep. However, it can be confusing on how to start decorating a room to fit the Cottagecore aesthetic. Luckily, this guide will teach you all you need to build the perfect cottagecore bedroom.

Plants

A range of plants in several pots, gives the room an earthy and clean atmosphere.

Plants are a given in any cottagecore bedroom, you’ll likely find them in every inspo pic on Pinterest. This is a given, since the cottagecore aesthetic is heavily inspired by a connection to nature. It’s also an easy way for earthy colours to be introduced to the rooms décor. BUt, another way to add to this rustic look is by using a range of pots and vases in a collage-style.

Try a variety of sizes and colours for your pots, it’ll draw attention to each of your plants individually. Pots can be quite expensive, so I’d recommend collecting mismatched ones from charity shops, to give a preloved touch to the room.

For vases, I would aim for something more unusual or eye-catching, since the cottagecore aesthetic seems to stray away from minimalist design. This could be a stained glass vase or a unique design, for example this book vase is absolutely stunning . The designs are wholesome cottagecore classics like Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, and the Secret Garden.

Ruffled Duvet Covers

Ruffed Bedsheets and pillows, a cute and easy decoration idea

Ruched Duvet Covers are an essentially quaint and cosy element of a cottagecore room. The ruffles gives off a vintage feel is reminiscent of an old English cottage in the countryside.

To add to the cottagecore bedroom aesthetic, try to search for floral patterns or soft colours. These will provide some contrast against the texture of the covers and the ruffles. A good option is these ruffled taupe duvet covers, which are brilliant for their dainty style and earthy colour.

Pillows

If you still want some floral elements for your bed, then pillows are the perfect way to do so. These can be more design heavy since they don’t take up the entire space and have more variation so you can find some that truly feel like you.

As inspiration, I think this leafy pillow cover is the perfect example for the cottagecore aesthetic. It’s watercolour design is so delicate and sweet, also the green colour matches perfectly with the taupe bed sheets for an earthy look

Knitted Bed Throw

Throws are another cosy element you can add to your bed, they’re cute and lightweight decoration for the summer months whilst also adding another layer of warmth for the winter. For a cosier feel, and being more fitting to the cottagecore aesthetic, a soft material and simple pattern is recommended.

This fleece blanket is a great example of what to look for. It’s a soft and warm material, meaning it’ll be comfortable to use day to day and won’t be purely decorative. Even better, it comes in a range of colours allowing you to match it with the rest of your room. I would recommend choosing a variation of green or yellow. The green compliments the plants in your room whilst the yellow amplifies sunny days to make the room feel more bright and cosy.

Lace Curtains

Lace curtains with light peering through, creating a soft atmosphere fitting for a cottagecore bedroom.

Lace curtains are a perfect little detail to add a little cottagecore touch to your bedroom. They’re soft and sweet, whilst still adding a rustic element to the room, especially if paired with wooden accents and accessories.

The only downside is that lace curtains don’t offer any light blocking and minimal privacy due to their sheer material. To counter this, I would pair them with another curtain, such as shutters or a roller blind. This allows you to close it at night for privacy and keep it open all day to enjoy the aesthetic of your cute lace curtains.

Wicker and Wooden Furniture

The most important part of having a cottagecore bedroom is trying to incorporate as many earthy elements as possible. An easy way to do this is through your furniture. Try to use wooden bedside drawers, wardrobes, or desks, this will make the room feel earthy and grounded.

However, this can be difficult, since hardwood furniture can be expensive and heavy. To counteract this, maybe try using some wicker or lightwood furniture instead. If you prefer the look of darker woods, you can use a wood stain to darken the furniture to your liking.

Suncatchers

A suncatcher, creating cute little glimmers across your room for a whimsical Cottagecore aesthetic.

I don’t see people talking about these often, but suncatchers are such a quirky, delicate accessory to add. These work great in the sun to catch the light and cast cool rainbows across your room. They’re such a romantic and sweet decoration that I’m surprised they’re not more common place.

This set of suncatchers is a good way to decorate, since you can place the suncatchers all along your curtain pole to cast shimmers all around your room. The decoration in this set are also quite cottagecore due to the floral elements.

Wallpaper

Another quick way to make room feel more cottagecore is some vintage floral wallpaper. This can make a room feel less modern, and more like a quaint, English cottage.

The best wallpaper to choose is one with a light background but with a cute, watercolour design, this wallpaper is a brilliant example. This is best as too dark a wallpaper can feel confining, and too dainty or modern of a pattern can take away from the quaint and vintage feel of the cottagecore aesthetic.

Hopefully, you found this guide helpful and are well on your way to creating the best cottagecore bedroom. Thanks for reading!
